Dr. Phillicia Hawkins, DPT – Executive Director

Phillicia received her doctorate degree in physical therapy at Langston University in Langton, OK
in 2008.  She has experience working in acute care, inpatient rehab, and extensive experience in
the outpatient setting.  Phillicia has worked with patients pre and post-surgery, patients with
neurological and orthopedic impairments, aquatic therapy, and has advanced training and
experience with amputations and sports rehab.  She has also worked closely with fireman, city
workers, and the military repairing them for the full return to work after injury or loss of limbs.
Phillicia follows a philosophy of treating each patient with a whole-body approach looking at all
aspects of their life, to include, societal, and environmental factors, that may affect their health
and disability that they are currently experiencing.  She has experience with manual therapy
and MDT techniques to treat neck, back, and extremity problems and has attended ongoing
professional continuing education courses to stay advanced on new technologies and
advancements in the field, such as dry needling, kinesiology taping, and cupping.  Phillicia is
from Oklahoma City, OK and a mother of two.  She loves to spend her time taking new
adventures with her kids, laughing with friends and family, and watching football/basketball
any chance she gets.   Phillicia has a passion for helping people improve their overall health and
quality of life and volunteers whenever she can with church and community activities.

Corey Smith - Project Advisor

Corey Smith is the Owner, Vice President of Bodyworx Physical Therapy. A very enthusiastic, self-motivated, reliable, responsible, and hard-working person. Corey has a passion for problem-solving and strategic planning that led to advising clients on optimizing project outcomes, mitigating risks, and implementing best practices. Corey has a passion and heart to help people regardless of the hurt inside of the help.

Corey Smith is a change agent specializing in Real Estate Consulting, Team Development, and Business Penetration Strategist. Corey’s keen intuition underlines his proven record of crafting business initiatives that transform marginal operations into financial triumphs. Corey’s business ascendency is reputably recognized amongst his clients and peers as bar-none cutting edge.

Corey has a passion for problem-solving and strategic planning that led to advising clients on optimizing project outcomes, mitigating risks, and implementing best practices. An entrepreneur that works with the best in others.

Corey Smith is also a father of 4 and a pawpaw of 7 grandchildren. Corey has been married to Sharunda Smith for 29 years and recognizes that the journey is just as important as the destination. He loves spending time with family, is a huge Dallas Cowboys fan, and the #1 Oklahoma University fan (Boomer Sooner). When not spending time with family or following OU, Corey can be found playing a good game of chess.

Dr. Seleena Smith - Director of Community Engagement and Development

Dr. Seleena D. Smith is a mental health practitioner, educator, mental wellness coach, and dedicated advocate for holistic wellness, bringing over 15 years of diverse mental health experience to her work. A proud alumna of Howard University—where she earned her B.S. in Human Development and M.Ed. in Educational Psychology—and the University of Oklahoma, where she earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology, Dr. Seleena has built a career deeply driven by empathy, cultural competency, and transformational coaching.

Dr. Seleena currently serves as the Director of Community Engagement and Development with the Bodyworx Helping Hands Project. In this role, she leads initiatives focused on community outreach, strategic partnership building, and enhancing access to mental health and wellness services. Her expertise and passion significantly advance the project's mission of holistic health and well-being, particularly within underserved and marginalized communities.

Throughout her career, Dr. Seleena has served diverse populations through pivotal roles in the nonprofit sector, community mental health settings, the criminal justice system, and notably within the Department of Veterans Affairs. Her impactful work with the VA system includes delivering comprehensive psychological services via telehealth, addressing complex trauma, chronic mental health conditions, and adjustment challenges faced by veterans. In the criminal justice system, she provided comprehensive psychological services in correctional settings, specializing in the assessment and treatment of incarcerated individuals with serious mental health conditions. Each of these experiences has deepened her understanding of human resilience and strengthened her commitment to trauma-informed, culturally responsive care.

Dr. Seleena remains deeply engaged in social justice initiatives, providing pro bono mental health services to marginalized communities and consulting with organizations on DEI initiatives and workplace wellness strategies. Her extensive academic leadership includes serving as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Prairie View A&M University and contributing through courses and guest lectures across various universities on topics ranging from counseling practices to the cultural significance of Hip Hop.

Recognized by organizations such as the University of Oklahoma's Black Student Association and Athletics Department for her inspiring contributions, Dr. Seleena actively participates in community conversations through presentations, podcasts, and media appearances, continuously advocating for accessible and culturally responsive mental health services. Ever-evolving through the growth she fosters in her clients, Dr. Seleena describes her life as "transformed and enhanced" by those she serves.
